First let me say I bought this printer locally because I got a really good deal. When my Canon MP780 started giving me trouble I took it to my repairman. He gave it back and told me it was time to replace it. I have always trusted his judgment, he has been in the printer repair business for over 20 years and he recommended the MP780 when my HP printer gave up the ghost and I have never regretted it, so I asked him what to get. He said this printer was the best on the market for the money. He said the lesser MP560 was good but for the little extra the MX860 was the better choice.

I have only had it a few days but so far I am very impressed. One other review said it was not very good on ink but I have printed 20 top quality 4X6 pictures and half a dozen high quality 8 1/2X12 pictures and the ink volume indicators are still at the top for all colors so I think at this time I disagree. I was very impressed with the picture quality. I have maintained a separate printer for pictures, but after printing the 30 plus pictures on this printer I donated my picture printer to the church.

I did find the setup instructions in the user’s manual to be difficult to follow. They have you jumping through hoops going to different sections depending on the type of connection you are using, the type of computer, (PC or Mac), and what operating system, but once I figured everything out it went just fine. I tried putting the printer against a wall on the opposite side of the office from my router and the wireless connection was terrible. It may be some interference in the office rather than a problem with the printer. Anyway: When I moved it to a location closer to the router and not against a wall it worked fine.

To sum up, I am very pleased with my selection and my repairman has always steered me in the right direction in the past, so I have every reason to believe I will still feel this way a year or two from today
